Easily recognized by its three heart shaped leaves joined at the base to look like a clover leaf, and by its buttery yellow flowers, each has five petals. It is an annual summer weed that can be a perennial in some areas, occurs in clusters and grows up from underground stems. Yellow Wood-sorrel spreads by seed.
