Florida Woods Cockroach

(Length: 1 1/2″ – 1 3/4″) This wingless roach is often called the “Stinking Cockroach” because of the foul smelling fluid it produces to protect it from predators. It is dark reddish brown to black, and commonly found in leaf mulch, wood piles and under rotting logs. Houses with wood shingles and shade trees will support large populations of this species, also often called a Palmetto Bug.
