May Team Member Spotlight: Katie Bowers

For Katie Bowers, success at Massey Services has been built on growth, teamwork and a willingness to embrace every opportunity that comes her way. Over the past four years, the Euless, Texas-based Office Manager has transformed not only her professional skill set, but also her confidence, becoming an integral part of her team while building lasting relationships throughout the company.

Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Bowers says she knew early on that Massey Services was different from other companies she had encountered. From the moment she interviewed, she sensed a culture centered on people rather than just productivity.

“Right from the day of my interview I could tell how close-knit Massey was and is,” Bowers said. “Despite how much we’ve grown, this company still feels like a community and takes care of its employees.”

That welcoming atmosphere played a major role in her decision to join the company, but it’s the continued support and encouragement she has received since then that has made the experience so meaningful. Bowers says Massey Services has provided her with opportunities to learn and grow in ways she never expected when she first walked through the door.

“I’ll be honest — I didn’t even know how to use a scanner before I started at this company, let alone Microsoft Excel,” she said with a laugh. “This company has allowed me to grow immensely and build my administrative skills basically from scratch.”

Today, Bowers is known for the qualities she believes define her work ethic best: efficiency, accuracy, and personability. Those traits help her navigate the fast-paced responsibilities that come with managing daily office operations. From coordinating communication to handling administrative details, her workdays are often filled with a constant stream of activity.

“Emails, emails, emails! So many emails!” she joked when asked to describe a typical day.

But behind the humor is an employee who takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly while supporting both coworkers and customers. Bowers says the relationships she has built with her team are what make the job truly rewarding.

“My team,” she said when asked about the best part of her role. “I’m sure everyone says they have the best team in the company, but they are the best of the best to me.”

According to Bowers, the strength of the team comes not only from their ability to work together effectively, but also from the culture they have created within the office.

“We work well together, support each other, and know how to have fun when the situation calls for it,” she said. “Having people around you that genuinely care about one another makes all the difference.”

That sense of camaraderie extends beyond her immediate office as well. Throughout her time with Massey Services, Bowers has had opportunities to collaborate with employees across multiple departments and locations.

By participating in various company projects, she has worked alongside team members from all over the organization, experiences that have broadened her perspective and strengthened her understanding of the business.

“I have had the chance to work with other Massey employees from all over the company in a myriad of roles due to being involved in various projects,” she said. “I’ve even gotten to fly to other states.”

Those experiences, she says, have been among the most rewarding aspects of her career. Not only has she gained valuable knowledge from coworkers in different roles, but she has also built friendships along the way.

“I’ve learned something from everyone I’ve worked with and made some friends along the way as well,” Bowers said.

Bowers also credits much of her professional inspiration to people she has encountered within the company. One employee who stands out is Julie McCarthy from Denton Commercial Service Center 199. “Our very own Julie McCarthy,” Bowers said when asked who she admires professionally. “She is an account manager who really knows the business like the back of her hand.”

Bowers says McCarthy’s ability to balance responsibilities while maintaining strong customer relationships is something she respects.

“The way she juggles her many accounts and maintains incredibly positive relationships with our customers is nothing short of inspiring,” she said. “Beyond all of that, she’s just a genuine and kind soul.”

That emphasis on relationships and people-centered leadership is something Bowers believes reflects the larger culture of Massey Services itself — a company where employees are encouraged to support one another while continuing to grow professionally.

One of the standout moments of Bowers’ career came earlier this year when she attended the company’s Eagle Circle Awards banquet, where she was honored among fellow employees.

“It was a blast,” she said. “I’ve honestly never had an experience like it.”

From the accommodations to the atmosphere, every detail left an impression.

“The food was amazing, the resort was beautiful, and the trip went seamlessly, which is all one can ask for,” she said.

Beyond the celebration itself, the event gave Bowers the opportunity to connect face-to-face with coworkers she had previously only interacted with remotely.

“It was also great getting to meet people in person that I’d only ever communicated with long distance,” she said.

Looking back on her journey so far, Bowers says the opportunities, friendships and personal growth she has experienced are what make her career at Massey Services truly unique. What began as a new job quickly became a place where she could challenge herself, expand her abilities and become part of a larger professional family.

For Bowers, the experience has been about far more than administrative work or day-to-day tasks. It has been about discovering new strengths, building meaningful connections and contributing to a team that feels more like a community.

As her career continues to evolve, she remains grateful for the people and experiences that have shaped her path along the way.
