October Team Member Spotlight: Eric Hernandez Supporting the Fight Against Breast Cancer
This October, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Massey Services is proud to spotlight Eric Hernandez, a dedicated team member who has been part of the Massey family. Eric exemplifies what it means to serve the community with compassion, commitment and purpose since 2001.
A Personal Inspiration
Eric’s involvement in the Men Wear Pink campaign began five years ago when a close personal friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. “Although I’m grateful she is a survivor,” Eric shared, “I’ll never forget what she endured during her diagnosis and treatment. Her courage and determination inspired me to take action and support others who are facing this terrible disease.”
Why He Wears Pink
Eric proudly wears pink each October to honor not only his friend but all those impacted by breast cancer. “I’ve seen firsthand the struggles that people go through when they are diagnosed with this illness,” he said. “More than 2,700 men and over 240,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. That’s why I believe this is such an important opportunity for us as a company to support this cause together.”
Making a Local Impact
For Eric, participating in the campaign isn’t just about awareness—it’s about action.
“The funds we raise truly make a difference,” he explained. “The money stays right here in our community. It helps families going through treatment, provides testing for both women and men and supports local programs that align with what we value at Massey Services.”
As of October 29, Eric has surpassed his fundraising goal of $13,000, raising nearly $18,000 to support the fight against breast cancer. His dedication and leadership continue to inspire his colleagues and community to get involved and give back.
A Call to Support
As an ambassador for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Eric is passionate about encouraging others to take part in this mission. “Everyone is welcome to join and support,” he said. “I had a fundraising goal to meet, and I’m so thankful to everyone who helped me exceed it. Together, we can all make a difference.”
